Who is the programme intended for?

In the Czech Republic, the colorectal cancer screening programme is intended for everyone in the age of 45–⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠74 years. If you fall into this age category, you are entitled to preventive screening examination, which is covered by public health insurance. You can choose one of two options:

• Have a faecal occult blood test (FOBT) once every two years. This test is commonly available from general practitioners and, for women, from gynecologists, and is very easy to perform.
• Undergo a screening colonoscopy at an accredited screening centre once every ten years.
