Who is the programme intended for?
In the Czech Republic, the colorectal cancer screening programme is intended for everyone over the age of 50. If you fall into this age category, you are entitled to preventive screening examination, which is covered by public health insurance. You can choose one of two options:
- Have a faecal occult blood test (FOBT) once every two years. This test is commonly available from general practitioners and, for women, from gynecologists, and is very easy to perform.
- Undergo a screening colonoscopy at an accredited screening centre once every ten years.
